Any,all , I'm confused on the definition /difference between Electronic Trading and Real Time Quotes. The original posts that identified Naxos as one of 81 foreign companies remaining on the NASDAQ bulletin board and would be eligible for Real Time Quotes did not say electronic trading. Are these terms synonymous?
My impression of real time quotes means that all these public quote servers ie Yahoo, StockSmart, Quote.com, will be reporting current (delayed 15 minutes) prices and will be updated as needed instead of once or twice a day. It means I will know the price before I call my broker but he would still have to negotiate a trade with a market maker. Maybe I'm wrong but unlike normal NASDAQ trades, where my broker can quote and confirm a trade in minutes if not seconds, he is still going to have to do something different for Naxos. I think that electronic trading in some peoples minds means , sitting at your own PC , on-line with some company like E-Trade and making your own trades. This has been a capability all along , as was posted by someone, not sure who, but the trade must still go through a market maker. I'm hoping that the advantage of Real Time Quotes will narrow the bid/ask spread of the market makers as well as reduce the differences between them. I recall seeing a post several months ago that listed 7 or 8 market makers for Naxof. Does anyone know how many are still dealing in Naxof and is that list still available?
