Thats correct......
currently to use either of the two lasers approved by the FDA for laser vision correction, a fee has to be paid to the manufacturers. Its called Pillar Point and is about $250 per procedure. No ifs, ands or buts......to use either of the only two choices for lasers, the fee has to be paid via a prepaid key card. That is what the antitrust case involves. The companies formed a joint venture to charge this fee...Pillar Point. The general consensus among those that use the lasers is that Visx is the better mouse trap. Summit is behind the curve in both FDA approval and software upgrades for the correction of astigmatism. FWIW.
