That's great Brian--I won't be able to post my game balance without some effort--since my game money and my IRA money have become hopelessly mixed together, I'd estimate I'm at 9k, not as good, but I'll take it. Happily I've done better outside of the game.
Status as of the close of trading 3/31: I'm holding 5k shares of Viragen--already in the hole on those however; saw some good news, bot back in after having traded for a nice gain, and now it seems there has been some selling on that good news. I picked up those 1k shares of MAGN as you might have seen early today. I am hopeful that the new quarter will see some interest in these long- beaten down speculative biotechy plays, but they should be okay longer term holds if they don't trade up right away--not going to sweat it too much, these things either go to zero or will be ten baggers.
From a week or so ago, I still have a couple Dell puts, and three Excite puts, the excite's are now way out of the money, so not following those anymore. The Dells are down only a tad, so feel pretty good about that.
A couple hours before the close today I added DOW puts--five of the April 90's. For the moment those are up a bit--got them at 2 3/16ths, closed at 2 5/8.
The account I started late last spring for $2500 has $5600 in it now--2k of vrgn plus some cash. My ira has run up from 17k to 53k, I'll probably continue to add beaten down speculative plays as I find them, that's what the grubstake is for. And then there is about 2k I've lost in put options so far--when will I ever learn.
When I look things over and think about how I got here, I'd say that I've been lucky. If it were not for the fact that I am holding mostly cash right now, I'd say that my current situation looks pretty reckless-- my goodness, two biotechies and puts on highfliers, yikes.
We shall see how my balances stand a month from now. |
