I agree Walt., the paper by Gurney and Kirkley in 96 dispelled some
of those myths., at least for S. African Miners., and basically started
the recognition of viable deposits which Southernera has exemplified
to its fullest. The differences between what Winspear has and an
advantageous position over S. African miners., is the orientation of
the deposit. being a relatively flat gently slopping deposit., means
they dont have to sink tunnels every 30 meters or so to access the
face wall of the dyke. Most S. African dykes are less than one 1 meter wide in dilution of ore has been a problem somewhat.
It seems to me this deposit would have the makings of an easily
mined deposit compared to elsewhere. Maybe this perception will
change when Dr. P paper is submitted to the Cape Town conference
and all the academians can hash it thru.
Sincerely
George J. Tromp
