Come on Jeff, Please! Craig Benson is as much to blame for that drop in stock as anyone. I have a lot of respect for Bob and Craig for what they did by building Cabletron to the point it was two years ago. But the fact remains that Cabletron needs professional management. I honestly believe that Craig has the talent and ability to do bring Cabletron around if he drops his political agenda and focuses on the job at hand, but I still don't think that Reed should be used as a scape goat.

IMHO, Bob and Craig were slow to acquire the companies and technologies necessary to keep and increase marketshare. Lets face it the infamous SMC bus ride to corporate headquarters didn't do much for morale. They were forever undercutting what few resellers that they did align themselves with and only gave the channels lip service.

I think one of the biggest mistakes was when Bob and Craig brought on Ken Sullivan to replace Gary Davis. I don't know what they were thinking but in my opinion he single-handedly destroyed the service and support chemistry that made Cabletron what it was two years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he is out real soon!

I just hope that Benson rights the Cabletron ship before it is too late.
