With all due respect, Universal Studios outdoes Disney in quality
in some categories:

1. Best attraction in Orlando area is certainly Terminator 3D. It
mixes live action with 3D and its extended length makes one feel like
they are seeing something worth seeing rather than be shuttled in
and out of an attraction.

2. 2nd best attraction in Orlando has to be Back to the Future.
Especially if you set in the front seat of the 8 seat DeLorean.

3. ET puts the Disney Fantasyland (1950's artifacts like Peter Pan
and Snow White) rides to shame. You feel like you are flying thru the air on a bicycle.

4. I don't care much for Kongfrontation, Jaws or many of the other
Universal attractions. The Hanna-Barbara ride is quite good -- better
than Star Tours IMO (I think the Artic ride in Sea World is also
better than Star Tours).

5. Many of the newer Disney rides are much too jerky. The classic
Disney attraction is the Matterhorn and in my opinion, Disney has
never topped it (no pun intended). I rode on Countdown to Extinction
and sitting in the fron row, my knee once slammed real hard against
the unpadded interior -- it hurt! Countdown to extinction is way
to jerky -- WHY?? -- it could have been made smoother. Of the newer
Disney rides, Tower of Terror is quite good, but really it is of
limited scope and can't compare to the thrill of skydiving or even
skiing down a long slope. The ambience prior to entering the "elevator" though is really well done and of high quality but one
gets a limited glimpse of this.

The hotels in Disney World are of the highest quality -- no question
about that -- but the newer rides can't match up with Universal's
newer rides. In 1999 Universal will open up their new park along with
nearby hotel accomodations. I expect at this point Disney will have
a very serious competitor -- something they have not really had
in the arena of amusement parks.
