Mark: Legally speaking O'Toole has actually committed a libel. Libel is written or published. Slander is spoken. Interestingly enough, the law on defamation is such that false statements about a person which go to his trade or profession are given special treatment. In such cases, the libeled party may recover upon proof of the case whether or not that party is able to show any actual damages. Normally one has to be able to show a specific physical or economic harm. In my professional opinion, statements of the kind made by Mr. O'Toole and published on this thread go directly to your chosen profession. I would contact a lawyer immediately. I think you've got a great case!! JLA
