I agree with you that AMZN isn't a gorilla as defined by the book. However, you don't understand AMZN if you simply call it a bookstore. Books are what it does right now but books are just step 1 in a multi-step strategy. Step 1 relates to mass-market acceptance of the internet/browser as an e*commerce platform. The next steps will be leveraging this platform to other products. Then advertising could contribute. AMZN's margins will be slim but the opportunity is very large. I would not be a big holder of AMZN at these prices but its worth paying attention to....
