Patrick-It's because Allen is the second richest of MSFT's shareholders and has deep pockets and lots of connections.>>>Mostly. There are two examples where Microsoft lost (or hasn't won yet):

1. America Online seems to have withstood and come out ahead. I can guess this is
because they reached critical mass with a sound business model. <<<
