Street name is just that: held by an institution
for an unknown individual. A company never knows who
it is until the individual(or partnership, etc.) own
a large block(around 5%) where reporting to the SEC
comes into play.
I am not sure if Lucent can even get your name if it
wanted to contact you directly. Your broker does all
of that.
Given this, I am not sure what the exact definition of
institutional ownership is. What would happen if five
billionares opened a trading account at a broker with
enough money to buy tons of shares. Are they institutional?
Just some rambling.
LU has had a nice run during the pre-split weeks.
We should expect some rationalism over the next few weeks.
That means that barring any unforseen action by LU we should
see the stock drop(it usually does post-split) and hover
in a trading range for a while.
