The article says that Celeron is being introduced at a price point below where the analysts expected.

Since Intel is positioning this product at the low end, I am surprised that the analysts expected a price point over $180.

The testing by PC World of a pre-production chip, only releasing partial results and no details of the tests or the benchmark system, is of questionable value. Once more details are available, these tests may have some validity (but right now it appears more of a publicity grab).

The statement that Celeron is now in production doesn't invalidate the statement, in PC World's own article, that they used a preproduction chip. It only means that it is likely that systems will be available soon after, if not on, the announcement date.

If Celeron does prove to be less capable than the K-6, price is one factor that Intel can use to attract more buyers.
