Thomas,

As of yet, I'm sure AMD is still recouping the investment in Fab 25 and Fab 30. Obviously, AMD has lost money on K6 production so far. They need to build in excess of 2MU per quarter to be profitable. With the forecast of 15MU in 1998, their future is looking pretty good. As far as Flash, AMD was the only Flash supplier to make money in 1997. Intel lost $100M on Flash, Atmel lost $160M in Q497 alone. That is because all of AMD's Flash devices are built on 0.35u technology. Intel is still using 0.6um and 0.4um process technology. In fact, Intel just announced they were obsoleting all of their 0.6um Flash parts because they were losing money in Flash. Another great opportunity for AMD to gain Flash marketshare.
