Sowbug:
You are correct. ComSat is a done deal. Do your homework kids. It's that simple. Base your investment decisions on what YOU uncover through YOUR research. I've been investing for 4-5 years now and I have arrived at one fundamental truth. Whenever I have blindly listened to someone elses opinion and then bought into that sales pitch, I have had my head handed to me on a platter. I can sit here and pipe off the virtues of IRIDIUM till I'm blue in the face, but I see little point in it.
Bottom line:
-Satellites are the future for communications. If you believe land based pipelines are it, then we have nothing further to discuss on this issue.
-Iridium is the beginning....I repeat...the BEGINNING of the transition from land to sky. If you disagree with this then take your money and invest it elsewhere.
-Iridium is the FIRST system that will be operational. Government contracts, future generations of the system and global outreach are just the tip of the iceberg as to why we have a winner here. FIRST is a powerful word.
-Motorola....a company second to none in my opinion. Put your money on the big boys. They don't come much bigger.

Stand by for liftoff. We are all going to be very happy campers in the years to come. Do the research. Do the work! I'm sure you'll come to a satisfactory conclusion on whether to invest or not. Take care and all the best.
