Rambus die size is currently about 20% to 30% larger than SDRAM. They want to get the differential down to about 10% before RDRAM becomes mainstream, but that is still quite a ways off.

If you're asking whether you need more or less RDRAM, the answer is the same amount. RDRAM just increases the bandwith between CPU and main memory, but does not decrease the amount of memory you'll need.

Microsoft wants to move the entire PC industry(office and home) over to NT by 2000/2001. Performance on NT scales with more memory so in the future we'll ALL be using a lot more memory. That would be the case anyway, but it is especially true since Micrsoft is taking us "where we want go". <VBG>
