kl, According to IRS tax rules, trades must be reported in a first-in-first-out... This means you lost $5 15/16 (original shorted at $22 13/16 and covered at $28 3/4) plus commissions. Are you sure about the first-in-first-out? That would actually be advantageous for Vinman. It's better to recognize losses before gains. Joe
