Ronald,
Thanks for your input. You shouldn't expect any flames as you are expressing an educated opinion.
I agree volatility in the stock will probably go up although I'm not sure the direction is down. In fact, the stock jumped two points around the time the Windows CE news came out. The price action in CTXS is a not a good example of what we should expect in WIND. Citryx' whole business is to let Windows programs run on a three tier architecture. If Microsoft included this feature home-grown as part of their OS or an add-on, Citryx' whole business would go down the drain. Therefore, it was no surprise that CTXS dropped as dramatically as it did. All WIND has to worry about is increased competition, offset by an embedded systems market that will grow at a much faster rate than analysts' expectations.
As far as Microsoft/INTS, I think we'll need to see exactly what their arrangement is. The article stated: In addition, at next week's CE conference, Integrated Systems will disclose a systems-integration agreement with Microsoft under which the company will combine its real-time pSOS operating system with CE, for "developers who want to blend the determinism of an RTOS with the ease-of-programmability of Windows CE," an Integrated Systems official said.
Anyone have any ideas on how you could combine pSOS with CE, which is designed for Windows programmers? The quote implies that pRISM+ wouldn't be involved.
One more question: Can you really switch RTOS companies as easily as you mention? I thought the more entrenched Wind River is in a company such as HP, the more expensive it would be for the customer to switch to another company due to training engineers, new tools, etc.
