No, I am not a homosexual. The Pharisees were revolted at Jesus dining with "sinners". "When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume....she began to wet his feet with her tears....kissed them and poured perfume on them. ...When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, 'If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is - that she is a SINNER.'(Emphasis mine)Lk.7:36-50 Jesus forgave her sins.

"...But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law....complained to his disciples, 'Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and "sinners"? On hearing this, Jesus said, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: "I desire mercy, not sacrifice." For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."Lk. 5:29-32

Jane, I could be wrong but it seems to me that you may be confused about the difference between the sin and the sinner. Jesus tells us to love the sinner, but hate the sin. This is easy for Jesus because he if perfect, it is difficult for me because homosexual BEHAVIOR is so repugnant to me. Especially when many homosexuals are in your face and call you names (homophobe, uptight, etc.) and consider a Christian closed-minded. It's very hard for me to love someone that flaunts their sin and tries to make me feel like I am the weird one and perverse one for criticizing their chosen lifestyle. But the Lord Jesus still tells us to love the sinner and hate the sin. So I try as best as I can to remember this when dealing with homosexuals or any other form of deviant and perverse behavior and pray for wisdom in such encounters. But I think it is wrong to condemn them. Here, we become self-righteous as the Pharisees were in the scripture above. I also recognize that it is incumbent on the sinner to repent. Jesus often said to a sinner whom he had just forgiven, "go and sin no more".

Hope this helps you understand why I was asking. I have no particular affinity or obsession with homosexual behavior.

In Christ,

Rick
