The Loral estimates of demand were generated by the local service providers on a country by country basis, from what I have read. The estimates by other consultancies vary from the Loral estimates, mostly indicating more demand than what Loral states, again from what I have read. How these other consultancies have done their job I don't know. So I agree with dougjn that the demand question is the real soft risk in the business plan. The launch risks can be/are insurable and quantifiable.

In my own experience, two years ago I wondered who in their right mind would want a cell phone besides maybe a traveling salesman. Now people from all walks of life have them. If the cost is right and the service is reliable, people will buy. GSTRF service as an adjunct to cell phones where no cell phone service exists will be a winner. I have backed up my view with considerable $$ on the table.
