Well, to take the other side a bit. I think it is very clear that in most foreign countries, the demand will be business and government demand, not personal and social.
(Although in most third world countries there is a not unsizeable rich class. What they tend to lack is much of a middle or upper middle class. Still, those rich will rig it as a business/government expense in most cases.)
The governments and military all over the world will want Globalstar Sat Coms. Not for every soldier, to be sure, but for every colonel, and probably a whole lot more.
Trucking cos. Not for the comfort of their drivers, but to direct him to his next pickup.
All corp. outposts in areas without cellular service, or reliable cellular service.
Etc., etc. (And lets not forget your more successful class of criminal. The cell phone penetration of the US drug dealer market is rather great, from what I gather. Think of the boon to the runners up in the Golden Triangle area of Burma, or Myanamar, or whatever those worthies are calling their country these days. Smugglers of all stripes with world over. Ah, progress. <g>)
