CBS sets HDTV programming for November

April 2, 1998 01:05 PM

NEW YORK, April 2 (Reuters) - CBS Television Network will broadcast five hours of high definition
(HDTV) primetime programming per week beginning in November, CBS Corp. said Thursday.

The company said the HDTV programming will be broadcast in 1080i, the highest quality HDTV digital
format available.

CBS chairman Michael Jordan said, "By providing the highest quality HDTV programming, we will gauge
the reaction of consumers to HDTV and the response of television set manufacturers to the new
technology."
