I do not agree that a well-articulated business plan "will do nothing for the stock price" - many investors look for this before investing. If the plan exists, looks feasible, and then management executes successfully through the next six months or so, I think you will see significant new investment, even if profits are not immediately at hand. I understand you've had some disappointments based on what you were led to believe - wouldn't your point be stronger if what you had been told was written in a business plan, and then management failed to execute? Then you'd have a lot of people right there with you, demanding an explanation. So this puts more pressure on management to execute, and is the reason a lot of companies don't publish one. The company that does already gains a certain amount of credibility, because they have established that they are willing to be accountable.
