Barry: financial services is the place to be. I think your friend might hang on and do OK. I can find incredibly good values in this sector, they'll profit from the 30-year jumbo mortgages and home equity loans and credit cards long after the internet mania goes away.
It's unamerican to pay off your debt, after all.
