On another topic: some good news, and some bad news.
I have been talking with some well-placed sources, who will go nameless, but I believe that what follows can be relied on.
First, the good news, which isn't really news, but I'll say it anyway: The Gun Lake Band's application for federal recognition has completed the comment period successfully and is now being reviewed by a succession of officials within the BIA and the offices of the Secretary of the Interior. We have every reason to believe that all the necessary signatures will be obtained and that the President will finally sign. This is the final stage and approval is virtually assured.
However, and this is the bad news; the signing process can either go relatively quickly, or it can progress slowly. The rate of progress is at least partly determined by the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs). All shareholders should be aware that the BIA is becoming exasperated by the number of phone calls that are coming from Sungold shareholders. While shareholders have the right to call anyone they want to call, they should be aware that officials within the BIA have reached the point of frustration with the number of calls that they are considering slowing the progress of the application if the calls do not desist.
Please consider that one of the functions of the BIA is to assist Indian nations in obtaining federal recognition. The BIA is not there to serve the purposes of public company shareholders.
If any of the above applies to you, and if you hold the well-being of the company and the Michigan project dear to your heart, then please allow the BIA to do its' work in its' own good time. This period of time during the signing phase is supposed to be a quiet time, or black-out period, when the officials review the documents without outside interference. If we allow them to do their work without bugging them, the whole thing will flow along quite nicely.
So that's the good and the bad, and all I have to say about that. |
