If Nicklaus and son were paid with shares, those shares would not show up as volume because they were not an open market transaction. The company simply issued more shares to "pay" them. The situation is analagous to a company stock option plan. When company employees excercise their options, they don't show up as volume because they purchased their shares directly from the company.

Yesterday's two 145,000 share trades were more than likely an exchange between market makers in order to create volume to generate interest in the stock.
