Loren Israelsen Joins Paracelsian Board
ITHACA, N.Y., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Paracelsian Inc. announced today that Loren Israelsen, President of LDI Group, Salt Lake City, Utah, has agreed to join its Board of Directors. Mr. Israelsen's appointment completes the reconstitution of Paracelsian's Board, undertaken in conjunction with the equity investment by Biomar International in January of this year.
LDI Group is a consulting firm, led by Mr. Israelsen, that deals exclusively with dietary supplement and phytomedicine issues and serves a wide range of clients from the dietary supplement, pharmaceutical and food industries. LDI Group offers highly specialized services to assist companies in identifying strategic opportunities and products with continuing guidance through product launch and marketing.
Mr. Israelsen began his career as General Counsel for Nature's Way Products and also served as Vice President and Strategic Development and ultimately as President of the Company. He was directly involved in negotiating key agreements which led to the successful marketing by Nature's Way of Ginkgo Biloba, Milk Thistle, Echinacea and Evening Primrose Oil from Europe's leading phytomedicine companies Schwabe, Madaus and Efamol Ltd.
Mr. Israelsen is deeply involved in the ongoing political and regulatory issues facing the supplement industry. He served as General Counsel/Vice President to the American Herbal Products Association, Co-counsel to the European American Phytomedicine Coalition, industry liaison to FDA's expert advisory committee on Ephedra and advisor to the Natural Products Quality Assurance Alliance, to the Office of Technology Assessment and to the Office of Dietary Supplements. In 1992, he became Executive Director of the Utah Natural Products Alliance and was instrumental in development and passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA).
