>>Anybody want to comment on what they heard regarding the perpetual vs. 5-year license argument?
What I heard was that AA said it was acceptable, but that the whole concept in under review by Pegasystems' management. It's in their tradition, but I think they've soured to it. So much of the Q&A came back to it, and they progressively hinted at rolling out new products under different terms, selling the existing contracts to intermediaries for cash (which importantly they don't need, and foresee no intermediate need for), etc.
I think the five-year license policy is sustainable, Clam, but I think this "dark period" has made it practically unacceptable. Everybody wants to get over it. Now it's a matter of managing change.
Otherwise, I thought vital signs are OK. Sales are strong, products are strong, beating sales plan, successfully breaking into important new verticals with strong reference accounts, hiring, etc. |
