John, Come down to Texas. Here you can use lethal force in defense of property. About every month you read about a burglar getting "smoked" by a property owner somewhere in the State. Also three years ago we followed Georgia and passed a concealed weapon permit law. About 450,000 permits to carry concealed weapons have now been issued in the State of Texas since then.

And just like the State of Georgia, both the violent crime and property crime rates have dropped subsequent to passage of the law. Other factors at work I'm sure such as George Bush Jr.'s excellent work as Governor, and a booming economy, and also criminals move to States with weaker laws and easier pickings.

But to be sure, it has made the freeways and public facilities much more "civilized" since there are now 450,000 additional "unmarked deputy sheriffs" floating around in the State of Texas at all times and places... and you never know if one is standing next to you....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
