Orckit, excellent DSL company, though they never licensed DMT Technology from Amati, most all DSL companies have, and ORCTF is using DMT.

Compaq is looking to buy a DSL company. They have looked at about a dozen, and traveled to Israel and checked out Orckit.
At the Money Show in Orlando (Feb.5th) during one of the luncheons I attended one guy stated CPQ might buy PairGain. But the next day I talked with Michael Murphy, (he's the one who told me Compaq visited Orckit)he thinks Compaq will buy Orckit....
You are correct, xDSL is the wave of the future. There are 750 million POTS lines in the world, and they go into your living room, bedroom, office. Heard there will be 900 million POTS by 2001.

VDSL will be coming in the future with 52Mbps. Orckit is big here too.
Harris Semiconductor 20 miles down the road, is manufacturing Orckit's VDSL chips.
