Bill started Microsoft in 1975, and the company went public in the early 80's. I remember it well as I was trying to decide weather to invest in its initial public offering, I did not! At the time I was working for KCTS-9 in Seattle on the University of Washington campus taking care of their equipment. The PC had only been around a few years. I remember the "kit" version of the pc coming out in Byte magazine and realized that the personal computer had come of age and really wanted to build one. I had built a LOT of Heathkits, culminating in building a 25 inch color television so I thought the PC kit would be simple.

But after playing around with a few "built" pc's I realized that the technology had a long ways to go before I would buy one. In the meantime Bill's company stock had split and split. I thought I had missed the boat. I eventually bought some Microsoft, after all if you can identify a new shift in technology you can jump on board even years later and still make big bucks.

Thats why I like Cisco, this technology is still in its infancy.

We have a loooong way to go before the growth slows down!

regards

Eric

P.S. Lu has gotten ahead of its self.
