David, I'm here. Just waiting for some official news from powers that be before I explain what is happening. This is a touchy subject now. Lots at stake with equipment manufacturers following the networks leads. At least it seems that the other networks are seeing the light with 1080i. Fox will have to provide HDTV (480p and 720p aren't really HDTV), if they don't want the FCC and congress looking for givebacks in the way of forfeiture or fines. I'm not going to NAB this year since it is spring break for my kids. (Wife does not want to drag kids around Vegas by herself). But fellow engineers are looking very closely at compression. Hot topic with in- house committee that I am part of. This is one of my favorite threads to watch. Back to lurk mode. GEorge
