AMZN has now reached a market cap of 2.25B, which is getting very close to the market caps of borders and B&K (both around 2.5B). does anyone else see this as rediculous? Incidently, has anyone ever tried buying anything from one of these places? (AMZN, CDNOW, etc.) The prices are good, but the shipping charges will kill you. Who would pay an extra $3 per book or CD for shipping when 99% of these products are available on the shelf at borders or Bk. and if they are not, they will order them for you at no shipping charge. This is a little off topic, but it does relate to the whole issue of online commerce. It seems like a great idea for things like airline tickets, but for material goods, the shipping considerations dont seem to be resolved yet.
