Michael,

JOF has been behaving as I expected (feared) when I sold
my cheapest third a few weeks back @5 7/8 (it's down near 5
now. Woulda dumped more, but SWMBO will not let me sell at
a loss). I may buy it back, but below 4 1/2, possibly way
below (I hope not).
I know we should buy more at the darkest hour, but
I think it's still dusk. We should remember that the sun
also rises, but I think Japanese smallcaps may share a
problem with the protagonist of that novel for awhile
(obligatory comment to keep this post on-topic -g-).
Credit rationing is hurting these companies bad. I agree in the
long-term financial liberalization will be good for more dynamic,
smaller companies. But, do you think many companies in JOF will
be among them? Or, will they be companies we haven't heard of yet
because they don't exist? Guess we can hope the fund buys into these
too...

Some fun reading about Japan culled from the Asia thread:

This may be an April fool's joke, but if not... contrarian signal?
