This is pure BS, NC is a very little part of ORCL revenues if any, Larry himself has accepted the mistake of over hyping NC in past and they are focusing on core business.

Oracle, Sun off on network computer worries

NEW YORK, April 3 (Reuters) - Shares of Sun Microsystems Inc. <SUNW.O> and Oracle Corp. <ORCL.O> fell in early trading Friday amid concern over the near-term outlook for the companies' network computer (NC) products.

On Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported corporate support for the devices seemed to be waning after a favorable early reception.
That story followed a report by industry research firm Dataquest on Wednesday that said shipments of NCs, low-cost devices designed to draw their computing power from networks, fell short of expectations in 1997 and will likely remain insignificant this decade.

"Certainly, the negative Journal article is hurting," said one technolgy stock trader. "Sun and Oracle are in this thing together."

Shares in Sun Microsystems fell 13/16 to 41-5/8 in early trading, while Oracle, Nasdaq's most heavily traded issue this morning, fell 1-3/8 to 28-3/4.
NCs drew a lot of attention in 1995 and 1996 as promising, low-cost alternatives to full-blown personal computers. Companies like Oracle, Sun and International Business Machines Corp. <IBM.N> set out to design or build the machines but so far, only IBM has sold a substantial number of them.

Now, however, interest in the devices has flagged because of plummeting PC prices and slow technology development.
