If an individual is using there own money to help a parent pay for medical expenses, nursing home care etc. Can that be deducted on Schedule A?
Yes, if the checks are made out to THE DOCTOR, DIRECTLY and if the payer provides over 50% of his parent's support.

Mileage ? $.10 per mile or actual expense
