Craig, Thanks so much for posting Stratfor's warning. Worswick and others on this thread have been saying pretty much the same thing for several months now, but coming from Sony's Chair adds some urgency to it, to say the least. I have been wondering how these things will affect specific companies, especially the powerhouses like Sony, the auto companies, and, for my own special interest, Toshiba and Fujitsu (my special interest because I have investments in the drive companies, and these two--especially the latter--are active participants who have been helping to drive that sector into more turmoil than would otherwise be the case). Do these companies--the powerhouse companies, I mean--get enough cash flow from outside of Japan to just keep chugging along? Will they have to sell more and more product just to keep that cash flowing, at any price? Or will they clinch up like everyone else, unable to keep their capital investments up and unable to remain competitive, despite the yen's fall?
I'm just throwing these questions out hoping to get some answers that make this messy, murky situation a little clearer to me. Or perhaps these are the wrong questions, I'm not even sure of that! If so, don't hesitate to say, please!
As Goethe said on his deathbead, "More light!" Thanks in advance, Sam |
