Actually, I was thinking the sales taxes might be balanced out by decreasing or eliminating the shipping charge. Someone posted a very interesting article earlier on this thread about shipping of commodities to the home. The cost of shipping will go up and also the theft rate is increasing in some places.

What if BKS allowed pick-up of purchased merchandise at their physical stores or if BKS internet sales grew enough, they might be able to deliver books? Just a thought ... probably wouldn't work but at least where I live, the B&N is about 5 min away (in heart of town) and I wouldn't mind picking up ordered books there if the S&H was eliminated (4.5% sales tax < S&H for books?).
