Gary & Elliot:

On the future CAST use issue, I may forward it to Neal, however I understand that these posts end up circulated at IAI anyhow. I am sure that Ken has thought about this, as the weird correlations between mainframe based computing and web browser based applications (especially ASP) are too striking to ignore. They allow direct translation with little complexity, although some issues like function keys arise.

Last conference call I was blocked from questions. I believe this may have been a Mary Nugent foible, as I think most of the analysts and several of you folks would prefer me to ask a question or two to expose unaddressed areas. I think Sandy & Company trust me not to ask anything improper in any way. I will try again if the opportunity comes up.

As for IDMS competition, I will take a look. I think the support from CA plus the other CA languages supported by UNICAST plus the integration with other tools creates a critical mass of synergy here, and the others are playing from a big disadvantage now.

As for the Beta version, the most interesting thing is the letters PC.

Ken has had a version for IDMS COBOL for years, BTW. This is a mature offering with lots of features based on 15 years of development, and the others have little chance of competing on features AFAIK.
