Its nice to hear about the MX series getting more exposure. I think their Duo View technology is really important for business users. I for one, would want one on my next notebook.

The problem for S3 is that their main revenue figures (90%) are derived from desktop products (sound and graphics). That is why the price will not move too much. Unless Compaq and Toshiba sell 1 million of those notebooks each.

The worry I have is this rumor that the GX3 silicon is small. Why? because rumors of the nVidia TNT rates it at 7 million gates and as big as a Pentium 2 chip. Huge and powerful. and expensive to build.

But the technology is there in gobs.

S3 has to make sure the GX3 has at least a 6 million pixel fill rate speed, and matches the voodoo 2 in performance.

This GX3, 3.5, 4 thing only makes sense if GX4 comes out by September in mass quantities. Otherwise, its the old "missed design cycle" story again.
