Sheldon, Thanks for the clarification on Hamilton. I plan to visit both the Hamilton and Richmond plants this summer.
Have you actually been to the Hamilton site? If not, I would love to see a first-hand report from one of our Northwestern cybersleuths.
<This second system will be able to handle 400T/day of food wastes or even more if sludge.>
Can this 400 TPD TMP, which is permitted for sludge, accept animal waste as well?
The following is taken from 4-30-97 20-F:
<Western Economic Diversification Canada announced a demo project to develop effective technology for management of hog manure in April, 1997. The Company was named to provide the technology and to receive up to $485,000 for its part of the commercial scale demo which will have a total value of over $900,000. The focus of the project is an engineering design for an EFFECTIVE FARM LEVEL SYSTEM. Thermo Tech will supply the technology and know how while the engineering contractor, Cochrane Engineering, will develop designs. Cooperation from the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Centre in Brandon, Manitoba and from a commercial producer will be part of the demo project...>
In listening to yesterday's conference call, TTRIF is in serious contention for a diary cattle waste deal in Chino, CA with a waste stream of 3,000 tons a day. Apparently, TTRIF has axed plans for a "farm level system" at this time. I would guess that's due to the tremendous industry consolidation occuring.
Over the past 15 years, the number of hog farms has dropped from 600,000 to 157,000 while total production has remained basically unchanged! In the cattle industry, 2% of feed operations account for over 40% of all cattle sold! Between 1969 and 1992, the number of farms with broiler houses fell by 35%, but during the same time production nearly TRIPLED!
The topper...there is currently a 50,000 acre swine operation in southwest Utah designed to produce 2,500,000 hogs annually, with a potential waste output GREATER THAN THE ENTIRE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, CA!
Bottom line? Thermo Tech sees that these huge operations can warrant 600 TPD TMPS! Lots of them! Why redesign (now) when what you've got fills an immediate need?
Apparently, there are no modifications required to existing Model 6 plants so that they can handle animal waste. As I mentioned above, is different permitting required?
Your thoughts?
Regards,
David Pickering
