Re: BZ
To all -- without a pipeline of releases in the near term ATVI's fate this quarter, it seems to me, depends solely on the market success of BZ.
Gauging BZ's success is quite easy. Play the game, and see how many people are on the internet servers.
Answer: not enough.
I bought the game the first day, played it, was impressed, and went long the stock.
However, since then I've revised my original opinion of the game downward significantly. It suffers from some design flaws that reduce both its short and long term appeal. The learning curve is steep, creating frustration for new gamers. The multiplayer support does not equal that of more polished Net games such as Quake and Starcraft, against which it competes directly.
This year, Starcraft is the gaming industry's equivalent of Titanic. I haven't played it yet but I will very shortly, and I expect that I will unload ATVI. I am really shocked at how few people are on the Net servers.
