To all:

I am really starting to question what all this "BS" is really about.

Does Big Brother (congress) really think that they can legislate people's personal choices. Do they really think they as politicians (not as PARENTS) can curb teenage smoking. And why would you ask the tobacco companies, who is selling a legal product, be responsible to curb smoking of any kind. Is this like asking the fox to watch after the chickens?

Let's be real here.

These companies are working under the free enterprise system like every other company. Show me someone who does not know that smoking is hazardous to your health and I will show you a "Liar". I don't think these companies have anything to be ashamed of. I'm still not convinced that you can directly affect an individual's purchase through direct advertising. When was the last time you bought a soft drink just because you saw the latest commercial. Or buy the latest pair of athletic shoes or clothing or vehicle just because the commercial was "cool". It is the politicians who should be ashamed of their behavior. You ask what should they be ashamed of?

"STUPIDITY"

I mean really if someone offered you billions of dollars that you did not earn or deserve would you turn it down? I think the industry would be better off not settling and fighting these "LIARS" in court. I hope they aren't a group of twelve people out there who could be convinced that "Joe Smoo" really didn't know that that 3 pack a day habit could kill him. Anything done to the extreme can harm you. Drink enough saccharin (sp?) and that can kill you. Killed the rats. What industry is next?

disclosure for the record: I hold MO. Been in it for six years. The pull back is what it is and I am way ahead, so I can wait it out.

Sorry for the ranting but I am one of the fed up "think for yourself" citizens.
