QWST is 16 channels of OC-192 at the present time using Nortel equipment. While the fiber transports 10 Gb/s per wavelength I believe this is composed of 4 muxed channels of 2.5 Gb/s each. These 2.5 Gb/s (STS-48) channels can be added or dropped at various points along the fiber usually at a central office.
