DAK and All: Intel talks about $5 billion of cap ex for 1998 in this press release, only a day after it cancels a KLIC order for 100+ machines. I think Intel might be trying to kick its suppliers when they're down.

They also announced availability today of Pentium II's for notebooks and laptops. These chips have much lower weight and use less juice than the desktop Pentium II's, so I would guess the notebook chips have features with pretty aggressive line shrinks. One would think this would be good for Micrascan.
