Maybe I didn't express myself well. I don't currently have any shares of the company that I want to short in my account. They will be transferred into my account in a few days (I hope) as part of a stock exchange of a company being bought by another company. I am worried that the price might go down before they are transferred into my account so I wondered if I could short the stock now and cover the short with the stock when I receive it. Thanks for your quick reply, Ernie
