re: Last year's earnings... You're absolutely correct. The only thing that drives stock prices like this is the expectations of future profitability. What happened last year was reflected in last year's stock prices. What is expected to happen this year is reflected in today's stock price. Last year's earnings are only useful if you wish to determine the average P/E level the stock has traded at. That might be useful in the case of a company like IBM or MSFT, but not a growth stock like this one.
