This repost from Briefing.com tells the tale...

Kulicke & Soffa (KLIC) 21 3/4 -2: --UPDATE-- Lehman Brothers lowers 1998 and 1999 EPS estimates following last night's
fiscal Q3 pre-announcement loss; lowers FY98 from $1.55 to $0.80 and FY99 from $2.40 to $1.60 a share, but numbers could be
changed again following conference call; maintains "neutral" rating and 12-month price target of $20 a share.....

Let's do some quick math... $.80/share * 12 P/E = $9.60 stock price
even at a more generous 20 P/E it appears that $16.00 is the new number. I believe with the uncertainty concerning Q3 & Q4 as well as the fact that we may find out exactly how bad Asia really is, Wall Street will take any short term strength as an opportunity to run for the door. You might see the "Buy on the Dip" next week but the real money will be selling right into it.

If anyone has watched AMAT it hit $39 7/8 mid week and there were large block trades initiated by Sellers all the way up and now all the way down. AMAT along with KLIC will go lower. My prediction would be
$26-$28 for AMAT by mid May and $14-$16 for KLIC.

For the eternal optimists out there I'm sorry to take this position but with the comments that emerged over the last 24 hours it's hard to fight the facts. This is no longer a value play for the near term. If they were able to earn the previously forcast $1.60 I would continue to believe but at $.80 my money will do better elsewhere. I'll be back
in when we hit the low teens.
