YOU DID YOUR HOMEWORK! As you found you MAY DEDUCT medical cost for your DEPENDENTS!!!! For a parent, that means they depend on YOU to provide 50% or more of their support!!! If YOU PAY for the nursing home, that may bring you over the 50% support test... >>>> what about a parent PROVIDING care for an elder, like drivng to nursing home to assist and volunteer??? she is not providing 50% of the housing cost
