Donald, I recall you and some others on this thread were talking about specific semis to go long puts. Obviously, MU is a top choice, which I think a couple people have mentioned. I've been in and out of short positions on that one. The thing to watch, though, is the possibility of a short squeeze on any surge, such as we saw a few days ago. It's not a bad short at present levels, but if it finds its way back up to 32 or 33, it's a gift (IMO only). And you may want to check out the MU thread as there are a couple of people who seem to make a living shorting each short-term move in the stock.
I've also been short XLNX and ALTR. Check out the up-trendlines from January and where they broke down in mid-March. They have been trending down for awhile now. ALTR in particular has formed a nice short-term downtrend line which provided overhead resistance the past couple of days.
A fourth to consider is VTSS, which I've shorted briefly but have no current position. It broke its uptrend a month ago, retested in mid-March, but failed. It looks to be forming an ascending triangle, but it's up against resistance at 48. I'd keep a cautious eye on this.
Except for MU, I'm not assessing the fundamentals, so there is always the chance of an earnings surprise. And, since I prefer shorting, I haven't checked out the availability of puts or put premiums.
I look forward to anyone else's short/put suggestions. |
