Seems like I recall that the last couple of times that AMAT
announced layoffs/cutbacks due to weakening business dynamics
that the price of the stock WENT UP for a while. This because it
was reasoned that management was taking active measures to control
costs/expenses to insure profitability. May see the same thing
again this time. It is an easy way to do "damage control" and
offset bad news of order cancellations/delays, it may yield a
neutralization effect or at least diminish the impact of a
negative pre-announcement, for a month or so. If this scenario
occurs then the forthcoming bottom should push out to June/July/Aug
and possibly thru Q4.
