Third-Party Reimbursement Info From the Annual Report (10K) Filed on March 30,1998 In the United States, patients, hospitals and physicians who purchase medical devices, generally rely on third-party payors, principally federal Medicare, state Medicaid and private health insurance plans, to reimburse them for all or a portion of the cost of the medical device. Reimbursement for devices that have received FDA clearance has generally been available in the United States. The Company has obtained confirmation from the Department of Coding of the American Medical Association ("AMA") that the same code used for the reimbursement of laboratory blood tests used to monitor bilirubin infant jaundice is permissible for use in obtaining reimbursement for tests using the Colormate(TM) Bilirubin Device. The Company believes this confirmation will be an important factor in its pricing structure in the United States.......
